Weekly one on one mentors as the Code Academy Website stated never happened. We met two mentors in person once each in class and never saw them again. Another two mentors were introduced via video chats and we never saw them again either.
We were never enrolled in a “career placement network.” The only assistance we received in this arena was a few job openings posted occasionally through a jobs channel on Slack and recommendations that we “just Google” job openings.
Program accreditation was promised to be completed before the end of the Capstone Project by Micah Yost, the Faculty Leader, who left the program as it started to fall apart. He designed the program as a marketing scheme for his marketing company Method Mark. None of the promises he and the university made were fulfilled.
We were told that the program would be accredited and that credits would be given for the program. We later learned that the process for accreditation was never even started and would never be pursued at all.
The instructors though sweet and kind have no teaching experience at all. Wow, we paid $12,000 for this bootcamp!
Based on the excellent reputation of Midland University we were lead to believe that the Midland Code Academy was a high-quality program that was backed by the University under the umbrella of its policies and would provide a learning environment that enhances academic excellence and integrity. However, there was no follow-through on the goals, as we do not have the skills, portfolios, or the networks to help us obtain one of the supposed hundreds of jobs available.
None of the promises made to us during the open house, during classes, or on the website were met.
Obviously, the University was not prepared to adequately deliver the Code Academy, and we have paid the price in many ways
We feel that we deserve and are requesting a full refund of all monies paid by or on behalf of each student in the Midland University Code Academy program.

There’s a lot to love about Code Academy. There’s also a lot to be desired.
Pros: Built in interface for 90% of it. You just need your browser.
Cons: Terrible instructions for obtaining and using coding software. Also, makes occasional quantum leaps and leaves the user googling to understand the current topic. Finally, the price point is awful considering the first two “cons”. It’s a poorly organized “class” and much more a loosely slapped together lesson plan that hopes you fill in the dots.

I recently graduated with a finance degree but am looking to continue developing my coding abilities. At first glance, I thought codecademy was a great way to advance my desired skills. I tried the service for a week and it was great. At the time, I didn’t have room in my busy schedule to continue using the service. Due to my work travels, I missed the deadline to cancel my subscription by less than 24 hours. Low and behold, when I contacted their customer support to ask for a reimbursement I was given a cold and harsh no. I offered many solutions to prove this human error, such as my lack of activity during the time since I was automatically charged, but nothing. What is worse, I did not even receive an email reminder that the charge was being automatically renewed. The customer service agent who was rude and unwilling to listen to my request refused to even investigate the possibility of receiving a reimbursement. I understand Terms and Agreements detail this type of information but customer service is about showing sympathy sometimes. We’re all humans. We make mistakes. Our lives are busy. So why not show sympathy to a customer who genuinely enjoyed the service. I had originally planned to return this coming month but after this experience I don’t have much confidence in the company as a whole.

I went through the web development path with a bit of prior knowledge. I found about 1/4 of the lessons to have an error about what they were teaching. Many were typos and a handful were just outdated or incorrect. I kept using their bug reporting and started talking to others. Apparently I’m not alone, the curriculum for web development is filled with holes.
Just like others below I had a subscription accidently charged and tried to cancel it on the same day of the charge. I got a quick, generic response telling me that the policy doesn’t allow for any refunds at all. They’d rather have a bunch of angry customers like me (see below) than provide effective tools to learn programming.

I’ve used training platforms before but found Codecademy’s platform perfect for me and how I learn best (learn-by-doing). I’ve already recommended the course to several of my friends.

The prices are a lot less when bought from the vendor directly.
The Learning People use old content which looks worse than a stolen YouTube copy.
The sales people will tell you anything, salary expectations, completion times are all false. These courses take years and if you do them around a job they will take longer than the company gives you.
The support and CV team are staff and not professionals.
The company will take your money and after the 14 days guarantee is over they will forget you.
I have also seen this company has legal proceedings on them so may close and take your money.
