Epicodus is located in Portland and Seattle. However, students who don’t live in these cities can take Epicodus’s online course. The online and in-person curricula are the same and so are the starting dates.
Epicodus’s full tuition is $11,700. However, if you pay upfront, you will receive a considerable discount. Keep in mind that payments made through credit or debit card will have a non-refundable charge of 3 percent.
Epicodus offers several payment options and financing support to students who are unable to pay their tuition upfront. Below is a list of Epicodus’s financing options.
Epicodus provides coding bootcamp scholarships to underrepresented people in the tech industry including women, people who identify as non-binary or transgender, and Black, Latinx, and indigenous students.
The school only provides one to four scholarships for each class, so make sure your application stands out. There is a deadline for scholarship applications, so you should apply several weeks, or even months, in advance to improve your chances.
Epicodus offers an Income Share Agreement (ISA) in conjunction with its financing partner, Mia Share. An ISA is a financing arrangement that helps students cover the cost of their tuition. You can study without paying any upfront tuition and won’t have to make any payments until you earn over $33,000 per year.
Mia Share’s ISA program consists of 48 monthly payments. Your monthly payments will be calculated at 9.8 percent of your salary. But you won’t need to make any payments if you earn less than $33,000.
Epicodus partners with Climb and Skills Fund to provide loan financing to its students. While both companies offer a number of options, your choices essentially come down to a deferred payment (no payments while you study) or an interest-only payment (pay while you study). The main difference between the companies is the interest rate that they offer.
And don’t worry, you don’t need to have a perfect credit history, as both companies aim to help students.
Epicodus does not offer an installment payment option.
No, you cannot use the GI Bill at Epicodus. However, veterans do qualify for Epicodus’s scholarships to underrepresented people in the tech industry.
Epicodus offers a full stack development bootcamp and an introduction to programming bootcamp. Both courses are designed to teach students the fundamentals of computer science. Keep in mind though, the full stack development bootcamp is more comprehensive and in-depth.
The programming languages you learn will depend on the course schedule you apply for. You will need to check the details in advance if you’re interested in learning a particular coding language.
This course includes a 150-hour internship at a tech company to help you gain real-world experience. Once you’ve completed your internship, you will be able to graduate. This program also includes 80 hours of job preparation and training to help you succeed in your job search.
Depending on the schedule you choose, the full stack development course takes 25 to 45 weeks, including the internship.
If you want to be an Epicodus student, you don’t need to be an expert or have a bachelor’s degree in computer science. However, it is a good idea to get familiar with the principles of computer science before signing up. The admissions process includes a couple of logical challenges, so make sure you’re prepared for that.
This school has not shared its acceptance rate.
The Epicodus application process is relatively straightforward compared to other schools. You will need to complete logical and non-technical challenges to complete your application.
Epicodus does not conduct interviews during the application process.
Epicodus offers an introductory course that will help you get familiar with the fundamentals of coding. This is especially helpful if you don’t have any experience with programming.
Introduction to programming – This prep course will give you a solid foundation in programming. You will learn how to use web development and web design tools as well as some basic development strategies. After you finish the program, you can decide whether to continue with the full-time coding course or not.
If you don’t have the resources to pay for your education at Epicodus, you have the option to apply for a loan, an ISA, or even a scholarship if you qualify.
But the biggest drawcard is the school’s 150-hour internship program. It is not something you will see at most coding bootcamps. If you’re looking for a low-tuition school with high-quality outcomes, you should consider Epicodus as one of your options.
Epicodus provides its job placement rate through a third-party validator company called Council on Integrity in Results Reporting. The latest report showed that Epicodus has a 75 percent employment rate and most students were hired for software engineering positions. The report also highlighted that graduates earned a $60,000 salary on average.
No, Epicodus doesn’t provide a job guarantee. However, the school takes great pains to ensure you are 100 percent prepared for the job search and internship process.
You should apply to Epicodus if you want a career in web development or UX design. This school has a good reputation for providing intensive, high-quality development courses. However, if you’re looking into digital marketing or data science, you should consider other ways to start a tech career. Also, don’t apply to Epicodus if you’re overqualified.
This bootcamp is aimed at students who are passionate about coding and want to expand their programming knowledge. Make sure you are 100 percent committed to the course and that you can commit to working 20 to 40 hours a week.
